May, v. Bradford Town 2 (H) |
AC
182 for 4; Bradford 58 a.o.
On one of the hottest days of the year, the team have finally managed
to get a game under their belt. Losing the toss, All Cannings were put
into bat. Good tight bowling restricted openers Richard Sykes (40) and
Andrew Legge (21) but they battled hard to establish a good platform for
the innings. Andy Plank (21) and Richard Holman (72no) then accelerated
the run rate and got the score up to 182 for 4 off 45 overs. All Cannings
had to bowl well in response and did so as Adrian Goodall, thundering
in from Bridge House end took 4 for 20 in an excellent spell of bowling.
Guy Perritt kept the pressure on and bowled very tightly from the Paddock
end. Keith Bills then entered the attack, bowling a good line and length,
wobbling it (the ball) around and was rewarded with figures of 5 for 21.
To round off Adrian's day he ran a batsman out with a direct hit. A great
start the season!! All Cannings 24 points Bradford Town 2 Points.

May, v. Chippenham 3 (A) |
AC
102 a.o; Chippenham 104 for 1
On
a hot, sunny afternoon conditions were perfect for cricket. All Cannings
won the toss and elected to bat first. On what looked like a good pitch,
All Cannings struggled, were soon losing wickets and were bowled out for
just 102. Steven Parker provided some resistance with 24. All Cannings
then had a hard task in defending the small total and made it even harder
with inaccurate bowling and sloppy fielding. Chippenham reached their
target in 18 overs. A poor display after a good start last week. All Cannings
2 points, Chippenham 24 points.

May, v. Box 2 (H) |
AC
273 for 3; Box 45 a.o.
All Cannings lost the toss and were surprisingly put into bat against
Box 2nds. All Cannings lost an early wicket as Keith Bills mis-hit a shot,
but then Andy Plank (91) and Andy Legg (69) put on over 150. Richard Holman
(55 n.o.) then scored quickly and put on a quick-fire 60+ partnership
with Steven Parker (26 n.o.). All Cannings finished on 273 for 3 after
45 overs. All Cannings then made light work of the Box batting order and
Adrian Goodall took 5 for 7 off 8 overs and Keith Bills took 3 wickets
as the home side bowled the visitors out for 45. The visitors only batted
with 9 players as one person didn't turn up and another was injured in
the field. A great day for All Cannings, maximum points of 25.

June, v. Beehive Bradford (A) |
AC
161 a.o.; Beehive Bradford 162 for 6
All Cannings lost the toss and were put into bat against top of the table
Beehive Bradford. All Cannings got off to a great start with Keith Bills
(20) and Andy Legg (50) putting on 50+ for the first wicket. 16 from Richard
Holman and 18 from Guy Perritt, who batted with confidence before being
caught behind, and some late runs from Steven Draisey helped take the total
to 161. All Cannings then bowled well with opening bowlers Jamie Selby (2
wickets) and Guy Perritt (1) both taking wickets early on. Then Beehive's
No.4 batsman scored a lot of runs very quickly but was out caught off the
bowling of Keith Bills. Kevin Ryalls bowled well taking one wicket, but
then the wickets dried up and Beehive started to look like winning, Rich
Holman gave Cannings a lifeline with one more wicket but Beehive saw off
the runs to win in the 39th over. All Cannings 7 points Beehive 19 points. |
